Quorum Park Benches, Town of Addison TX
March 23, 2020
A HollyFab Metal Bench Project
The metal park benches were originally fabricated by HollyFab for the Town of Addison in 1998 and sit within Quorum Park, located between Westgrove Drive and Keller Springs Road in Addison TX. The original landscape and bench design were provided by Mesa
Landscape Architects of Dallas.
Quorum park is a well-thought-out and peaceful space for residents and employees of the local businesses to enjoy all year round. One of the features of the park are all of the wonderful trees that provide shade from the hot summer sun and serve as part of the overall landscape design through all seasons. Below you can see images of the original design drawings by Mesa and to the right, the park when it was being constructed.
In August of 2019 during storms that unleashed some powerful straight-line winds, the Town of Addison lost 250 trees overall and unfortunately one of those trees fell on one of the benches that make up the circular design around the main water feature, as shown in the picture below. The Town of Addison needed a replacement for the bench to match the benches in situ as quickly as possible to restore the area to its former functionality and beauty.
J.R. Phillips PLA, ASLA who is the Senior Landscape Architect with Town of Addison explained that not only were HollyFab able to produce an exceptional replacement bench and fabricated just as the existing benches, that they also made the installation easier in the provision of wooden crates that were custom made for the curved bench. The wooden crates also ensured their protection during transit from the HollyFab shop to the park which can now be enjoyed by local residents and visitors again. You can view more images from the project and recent images of the park in the slideshow.
